Dyslexia Associaton of London
The Future
As many of you will be aware, DAL has been struggling to raise funds to support the continuation of its activities. Whilst several welcome donations have been made in response to recent appeals, the amount received is significantly short of the running cost for the current office, staff and helpline.
The decision has therefore been taken to close the office at the end of March 2008.
A number of members (including some who have not previously been active in DAL) are keen to retain the charity and to continue to follow its objectives in whatever way is practical and effective despite the closure of the office. But if we don’t get further volunteers, the charity will have to close altogether.
These members will be working on a voluntary basis and they have other commitments so it is important that any tasks required in keeping the charity going are shared as widely as possible.
If you feel able to contibute in any way, please email your contact details to livingwith @googlemail.com. Help us reach our objective of helping all those with dyslexia and associated learning difficulties.
Despite some good progress the recognition and support for those with Dyslexia remains woefully inadequate – particularly for less well-resourced families. The retention of a local London-based organization plays an important part in addressing this challenge.
